Scientific background

I began my academic journey with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Medical Biology at Radboud University, with a specialization in Medical Epigenomics. After graduating in 2021, I started my PhD project titled Recognition and understanding of sleep problems associated with Usher syndrome type 2A, combining patient-based studies and zebrafish models to uncover new insights into sleep disturbances in Usher syndrome.
Since September 2025, I have been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Rob Collin. As part of the Lifelong VISION consortium, I contribute to the development and testing of gene-based therapies for monogenic inherited retinal diseases, bridging fundamental molecular research with translational and clinical applications.

Hobbies outside science

Outside the lab, I enjoy cooking and hosting family and friends for dinner. I love spending time outdoors, whether hiking, running, paddleboarding, or working in my vegetable garden.
